Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1012 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups bread cubes
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 can cranberry sauce
  • 1 lb green beans, trimmed
  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Rub turkey with softened butter, salt, and pepper. Place turkey in roasting pan and cook for 3-4 hours until internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thigh. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
  2. For stuffing: Sauté onion and celery in 2 tbsp butter until soft. Toss with bread cubes, broth, sage, and thyme to moisten. Stuff turkey loosely or bake separately in a buttered dish at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  3. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain, then mash with milk and butter.
  4. Steam green beans until crisp-tender.
  5. Whisk pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs, and cream until smooth. Pour into pie crust and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until the center barely jiggles. Cool completely.
  6. Serve the Thanksgiving dinner for 4 people with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
