Description
Enjoy a quick and flavorful dish with Spicy Sautéed Sesame Garlic Broccolini, perfect as a side or main.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb broccolini
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp fresh garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp fresh chili paste
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- freshly-ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Trim the broccolini by cutting off any rough ends and slicing thicker stalks in half lengthwise. Prepare a large bowl with ice water to keep the broccolini vibrant.
- Boil a large pot of salted water over high heat. Once boiling, add the broccolini and cook for 2 minutes, until bright green. Quickly transfer it to the ice water using a slotted spoon to halt the cooking process.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil along with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Then, toss in the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in the chili paste and sugar into the skillet, cooking for an additional 30 seconds to meld the flavors together.
- Drain the broccolini and gently pat it dry. Add it to the skillet, drizzling on the remaining vegetable oil and rice wine vinegar.
- Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the broccolini is tender but still bright green. Season with salt and pepper to your liking, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
