Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (Dutch or regular)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard (unfed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C)
  2. Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang
  3. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat
  4. Add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth
  5. Cool slightly
  6. In large bowl, whip eggs, egg yolk, white sugar, and brown sugar for 7–10 minutes until creamy
  7. Mix in sourdough discard and cooled chocolate mixture until combined
  8. Fold in flour and salt
  9. Spread batter in prepared pan
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with few crumbs
  11. Let cool completely before slicing
