Description
Enjoy these Savory Breakfast Pop Tarts, a portable delight combining flaky pastry with savory filling for a satisfying breakfast.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Flour (Use all-purpose or gluten-free blend)
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (Chilled)
- 4 large Eggs (Use chicken or duck eggs interchangeably)
- 1 pound Ground Beef (Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based option)
- 1 cup Cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup Bell Peppers/Onions (Can replace with spinach or mushrooms)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and chilled unsalted butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Chill the mixture for about 30 minutes to attain the best flaky texture in your pastry.
- Scramble the eggs in a pan over medium heat. Simultaneously, cook the ground beef with your choice of seasonings until browned, then mix in cheese and diced vegetables until they are softened and everything is nicely combined.
- Roll out your chilled dough onto a floured surface. Cut it into rectangles, place a spoonful of the warm filling in the center of half of the pieces, and then cover with the other half. Seal the edges well to prevent any filling from escaping during baking.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place the assembled pop tarts onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake them for about 25-30 minutes, or until they’re gloriously golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, allow the pop tarts to cool for a few minutes. Enjoy them warm for the best flavor and texture.
