- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

- ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or almonds, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire pan.
- Make the caramel layer
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until it starts to boil.
- Once boiling, let it cook for 3–4 minutes (don’t stop stirring).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla (optional).
- Pour and bake
- Quickly pour the hot caramel evenly over the crackers.
- Spread it gently so all crackers are coated.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes, until bubbly.
- Add chocolate
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Let sit 2–3 minutes until melted.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.
- Add toppings (optional)
- Sprinkle chopped nuts or a pinch of salt on top.
- Chill & break
- Refrigerate for 1–2 hours until fully set.
- Break into irregular pieces (like bark).
