Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 tbsp flour (for dusting)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 225 g cream cheese (softened)
  • ⅓ cup (65 g) sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling.
  2. In a pan over medium heat, melt butter.
  3. Add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Make the Cheesecake Layer.
  7. In a bowl, mix cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  8. Add vanilla and egg yolk and mix until creamy.
  9. Assemble the Base.
  10. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Lightly flour your surface and roll out 1 sheet puff pastry.
  12. Place it in a 9×9 inch baking dish or tray.
  13. Spread the cheesecake filling evenly.
  14. Add Apple Layer.
  15. Spoon the cooked apples over the cheesecake layer.
  16. Spread evenly without pressing too hard.
  17. Top Layer.
  18. Roll out the second puff pastry sheet.
  19. Place it over the apples.
  20. Seal edges gently.
  21. Brush with egg wash.
  22. Bake.
  23. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  24. Cool & Glaze.
  25. Let bars cool for at least 15 minutes.
  26. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over the top.
