Indulge in Morton’s Lobster Mac and Cheese, a creamy, restaurant-quality dish perfect for cozy dinners and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni (or cavatappi for best sauce adherence)
- 4 tablespoons butter (adds richness and essential for roux)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced, adjusts to taste)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for thickening)
- 2 cups milk (whole milk for creaminess)
- 1 cup heavy cream (substitute with half-and-half for lighter version)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (freshly grated for best melt)
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese (adds nutty flavor)
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (for depth of flavor)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (for richness)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (for flavor)
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for added texture)
- 1 cup lobster meat (fresh or thawed frozen)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni until it’s al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
- Gradually add the milk and heavy cream while whisking. Cook for 3-5 minutes until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Lower the heat and gradually stir in the cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until fully melted, then blend in Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Stir the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, then gently fold in the sweet lobster meat.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until bubbly. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes for a golden crust.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
