- ½ cup (120 ml) sour cream
- ¼ cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- ¼ cup (30 g) finely chopped onion
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
- ½ tsp Dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt, adjust to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, optional garnish
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft and slightly golden, about 4 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle in flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute to form a light paste.
- Gradually pour in milk while whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Lower the heat and add cream cheese, stirring until fully melted.
- Mix in sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Add grated Jarlsberg cheese gradually, stirring until melted and silky.
- Stir in Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with parsley if desired.
- Serve immediately while warm and creamy.
