  • ¼ cup (30 g) finely chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt, adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until soft and slightly golden, about 4 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle in flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute to form a light paste.
  5. Gradually pour in milk while whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
  6. Lower the heat and add cream cheese, stirring until fully melted.
  7. Mix in sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
  8. Add grated Jarlsberg cheese gradually, stirring until melted and silky.
  9. Stir in Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  11. Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with parsley if desired.
