  • 1 cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Caraway Seeds
  • 1 cup Raisins or Currants

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt; whisk until well blended.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until the mixture comes together; add more buttermilk if too dry.
  4. Turn the dough onto the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a round ball.
  5. Score an ‘x’ on the dough surface about 1/2 inch deep with a sharp knife.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
