Description

Delicious Grilled Octopus with Smoked Paprika and Lemon Butter

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon Water
  • 1 whole Octopus
  • 2 slices Lemon (for boiling)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (smashed)
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Butter (unsalted)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, boil 1 gallon of water along with lemon slices and smashed garlic.
  2. Gently lower the octopus into the boiling water, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 45-60 minutes until tender.
  3. Let the octopus cool slightly before cutting it into segments. Marinate these pieces in olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated octopus for 3-4 minutes on each side until you see grill marks.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, then mix in the fresh lemon juice, zest, and chopped parsley. Stir until combined.
  6. Plate the grilled octopus, drizzle with the lemon butter sauce, and garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.
