- 1 pound fresh green beans (trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces)
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup crispy fried onions (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Blanch the green beans in boiling salted water for 4-5 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter, then sauté onion for 3-4 minutes.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, then stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Whisk together cream, broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper, then add to skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Combine blanched green beans and creamy sauce in a bowl, then mix in crispy fried onions.
- Pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and top with more fried onions.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with thyme before serving.
