- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

- 1 baguette sliced into ½-inch thick rounds
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
- Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Sprinkle sugar over the onions and cook for an additional 5 minutes until golden.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden.
- Spoon the onion soup mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
- Sprinkle Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses over the topped baguette slices.
- Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
