Homemade Flour Tortilla
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter or lard
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder if using.
- Add fat and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually add warm water and mix into a soft dough.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide into 8–10 balls.
- Roll each into a thin circle.
- Heat skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook each tortilla 30–45 seconds per side.
- Stack in towel to keep warm.
