Crispy Chilli Beef Rice is a quick and delicious meal that brings the flavors of takeout right to your kitchen. With tender beef and vibrant vegetables, it’s a satisfying dish perfect for busy weeknights.

- 300g 5% fat beef mince
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 20ml dark soy sauce
- 15ml sriracha
- 10g tomato puree
- 20g honey
- 250g cooked rice
- Optional toppings: sliced spring onion, sesame seeds
Instructions
- Start by chopping the onion and bell pepper into bite-sized pieces, and mince the garlic. This prep step should take about 5 minutes.
- Heat a large pan over medium heat and add a splash of oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the onion is translucent and the bell pepper is slightly softened.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Next, add the 300g of beef mince to the pan. Cook while stirring for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and the liquid has evaporated.
- While the beef cooks, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together 20ml dark soy sauce, 15ml sriracha, 10g tomato puree, and 20g honey with a splash of water until well combined.
- Once the beef is browned, pour the sauce into the pan. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef well.
- Stir in the 250g of cooked rice. Mix thoroughly to ensure the rice is evenly coated with the sauce and heated throughout. This should take about 2 minutes.
- Finally, remove the pan from heat. Serve hot, garnishing with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- Use fresh vegetables for the best flavor.
- Adjust the spice level by varying the amount of sriracha.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
