- 1 pound fresh green beans (trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces)
- 6 slices bacon (chopped)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup French fried onions
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Blanch the green beans in boiling salted water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp, then drain.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, add chopped bacon, and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, reserving 1 tablespoon of bacon fat in the skillet.
- Sauté minced garlic in the skillet for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in heavy cream, onion powder, salt, and pepper; bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Combine blanched green beans, bacon, half of the Parmesan cheese, and the cream mixture in a large mixing bowl.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, top with remaining Parmesan cheese and French fried onions.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
