Description

This no-bake chocolate orange tart features a nutty crust, bright orange marmalade, crunchy pistachios, and a creamy chocolate-tofu filling. It’s a healthy, vegan, and gluten-free dessert perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • Crust: 2 1/2 cups pecans, 1 1/2 cups pitted dates (soaked), 2 tablespoons Dutch cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Orange Marmalade + Pistachios: 9 oz. orange marmalade, 1 cup roasted salted pistachios (roughly chopped)
  • Chocolate Filling: 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 cup soy milk (divided), 3 tablespoons vegan butter, 16 ounces firm tofu (blended), 3 tablespoons Dutch cocoa powder, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Toppings (Optional): Fresh orange slices, whole and chopped pistachios, flaky salt

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9-inch tart pan.
  2. In a food processor, blend pecans into fine crumbs. Add dates, cocoa powder, and salt. Blend until the mixture sticks together when pinched.
  3. Press the crust mixture firmly into the tart pan.
  4. Spread orange marmalade evenly over the bottom of the crust, avoiding the sides.
  5. Sprinkle pistachios over the marmalade and press gently. Freeze the crust while preparing the filling.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch with 1/4 cup of soy milk until smooth.
  7. In a saucepan, melt vegan butter over medium heat. Add 3/4 cup soy milk, blended tofu, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Whisk until combined.
  8. Whisk the cornstarch mixture again and pour it into the saucepan. Cook, whisking gently, until the filling thickens to a pudding-like consistency.
  9. Remove from heat. Whisk for 3-5 minutes to cool slightly. Stir in vanilla extract.
  10. Pour the chocolate filling into the chilled crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until set.
  12. Optional: Decorate with orange slices, extra pistachios, and flaky salt before serving.

Notes

  • Adding vanilla extract after the filling has cooled slightly helps preserve its flavor.
  • Firm tofu is recommended for a thicker, firmer texture.
  • Finishing salt balances the sweetness and adds crunch.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • To freeze, wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months.
