Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup ketchup, plus more for topping
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped celery
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten eggs, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and dried thyme. If using, add the chopped bell pepper and celery.
- Mix all the ingredients gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
- Spread additional ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the beef meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
