Ingredients

  • 1/2 sheet of nori seaweed
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 tsp lime juice or white vinegar
  • 3/4 tsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Tear the nori seaweed into small pieces and place in a mixing bowl. Pour the hot water over the seaweed and let it steep for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the TVP slices to the seaweed water and let them soak for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the neutral oil, lime juice, nutritional yeast, salt, and sugar in a small bowl.
  4. Drain the TVP slices gently, pressing out excess water without squeezing too hard.
  5. Toss the drained slices with the seasoning mixture and let them marinate for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the seasoned TVP slices in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden-brown and slightly crispy.
  8. Remove from heat once the slices are caramelized and serve immediately.
