- 0.75 cups unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream 3/4 cup of softened unsalted butter with 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Crack in 1 large egg and pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Beat until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until the dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half, flatten into discs, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out the chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut out heart shapes.
- Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are just barely golden.
- Once baked, transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
- Decorate with royal icing or colorful sprinkles to make each cookie a heartfelt masterpiece.
