  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Heat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Lightly grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  4. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly.
  5. Pierce each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking.
  6. Place potatoes directly in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until they begin to soften but are not fully cooked.
  8. Carefully remove potatoes from the oven.
  9. Cut a slit across the top of each potato and gently press the ends to open slightly.
  10. Pour buttermilk evenly over the potatoes, allowing some liquid to soak inside.
  11. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  12. Return potatoes to the oven and bake 10–15 minutes more, until tender inside and slightly golden on top.
  13. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
  14. Add salt and pepper if desired.
