- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 4 ounce Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
- 8 ounce mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoon mayo or garlic aioli
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown and tender.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into patties slightly wider than the bread slices.
- Heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties until browned on both sides and cooked through, flipping only once.
- Spread mayo or garlic aioli on each slice of bread. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on two bread slices, then top with a beef patty, sautéed mushrooms, and another slice of Swiss cheese. Top with remaining bread slices.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat with a touch of oil. Grill the sandwiches until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
