Ingredients

Instructions
- Heat butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped mushrooms and cook until their moisture releases and they begin to brown.
- Stir in garlic and onion or shallot. Cook until softened and fragrant. Season with salt and black pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese with any additional creamy ingredients until smooth. Stir in shredded cheese, reserving a little for topping.
- Fold the cooled mushroom mixture into the creamy base until evenly combined.
- Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with reserved cheese, and bake until hot, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
