Description
This Slow Cooker Steak and Onions recipe transforms inexpensive petite sirloin steaks into a tender, flavorful meal by slow cooking them with onions, garlic, and a savory blend of Italian dressing and brown gravy mix.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs. cheap steaks (such as petite sirloins)
- 2 white or yellow onions, cut into circles
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 0.70 oz. Italian dressing mix packet
- 0.87 oz. brown gravy mix
- 1 ½ cups water
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Instructions
- Place the steaks into the slow cooker. Season evenly with ½ tsp. salt and ¼ tsp. pepper. Layer the sliced onions and minced garlic on top of the steaks to build flavor.
- In a small bowl, combine the Italian dressing mix packet, brown gravy mix, cornstarch, and 1 ½ cups of water. Whisk vigorously until the cornstarch is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the steak and onions inside the slow cooker. Cover and cook on the LOW setting for 5 to 6 hours, allowing the meat to become tender and the flavors to meld.
