Description

Savory Parmesan garlic quick bread made in a slow cooker. A simple bake yielding delicious slices.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/8 cup cornmeal

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, instant yeast, garlic salt, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  2. Measure the water and incorporate the minced garlic into the water.
  3. Pour the garlic-infused water into the dry ingredients. Stir until the flour is fully hydrated and a sticky dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let the dough proof at room temperature for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Sprinkle cornmeal over parchment paper. Transfer the sticky dough onto the parchment and shape into a round loaf. Sprinkle more cornmeal on top and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest for 1/2 hour.
  6. Preheat the slow cooker on high for 5 minutes. Remove plastic wrap from the dough and use parchment to transfer it to the slow cooker. Tuck excess parchment edges for a secure lid fit.
  7. Place paper towels over the slow cooker and position the lid on top to absorb condensation.
  8. Cook the bread on high for 2 hours. Carefully remove from the slow cooker.
  9. For a brown and crispy crust, transfer the bread to a preheated oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
