Description
Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef – melt-in-your-mouth beef in a savory, slightly sweet sauce. Perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes (for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips for maximum tenderness.
- In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce is well combined.
- Place the sliced beef into the slow cooker. Pour the sauce over the beef, ensuring it is evenly coated. Stir everything together to ensure the beef is fully submerged.
- Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours. The beef should be tender and fully cooked.
- Once the beef is cooked, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add it to the slow cooker and cook for an additional 20-30 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve over steamed rice or noodles. Add crushed red pepper flakes for an extra spicy kick.
