Description
A simple and indulgent lobster roll featuring fresh lobster meat drenched in melted butter and served on a perfectly toasted New England-style split-top bun. No mayo, just pure lobster flavor with buttery richness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh lobster meat (tails or knuckle meat)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 New England-style split-top hot dog buns
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Sea salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with salted water and bring to a rolling boil. Add live lobsters or lobster tails and cook for 10-12 minutes until shells are bright red and meat is opaque. Remove and let cool slightly.
- Use kitchen shears or lobster crackers to remove meat from shells. Chop into bite-sized chunks and place in a mixing bowl. (Skip if using pre-cooked lobster.)
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons butter. Split buns down the middle without slicing all the way through. Butter insides generously and toast butter-side down until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and toast outsides lightly if desired. Keep warm.
- Add fresh lemon juice, sea salt, and black pepper to lobster meat. Toss gently to combine and adjust seasoning to taste.
- Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter and pour hot melted butter over lobster meat. Toss gently to coat.
- Pile buttery lobster meat into each toasted bun. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired. Serve immediately.
