Savory Cheese Puff Pastry Christmas Trees – A Festive Holiday Appetizer
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups cold mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or parsley (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- Vegetable oil, for deep frying
Instructions
- Combine mashed potatoes, all cheeses, egg, flour, garlic powder, herbs, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
- Roll mixture into 1–1.5 inch balls. Place on tray and chill 15–20 minutes.
- Roll balls in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces.
Notes
- Use leftover mashed potatoes for quicker preparation.
- Experiment with different cheese combinations.
