Description
Indulge in the rich flavors of Brown Butter Garlic Mushroom Gnocchi, a comforting dish that perfectly balances nutty brown butter with tender gnocchi and earthy mushrooms.
Ingredients
Scale
- Fresh or frozen gnocchi
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3–4 cloves minced garlic
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (cremini or shiitake recommended)
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
- Fresh thyme or parsley (for garnish)
- Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- If you’re using frozen gnocchi, cook it according to the package instructions until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Watch it closely as it begins to foam. Stir occasionally until the butter turns a golden brown, and you can smell a nutty aroma. This typically takes about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the butter is browned, add 3-4 cloves of minced garlic and 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and browned.
- Gently add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet. Toss everything together, allowing the gnocchi to soak up the flavor for about 2-3 minutes. Be careful while stirring to avoid breaking the gnocchi.
- Add salt and pepper to taste, and if you like, a squeeze of lemon juice for a bit of brightness. Toss in a handful of fresh herbs to finish.
- Top your dish with a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese and additional herbs, if desired. Enjoy your comforting bowl of Brown Butter Garlic Mushroom Gnocchi!
