- 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
