Description
Pizza dough cinnamon rolls are homemade cinnamon rolls made with pizza dough, brown sugar, salted butter, cinnamon, and cream cheese frosting.

- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 1½ cups warm water (between 110 ℉ and 115 ℉)
- 2¼ tsp quick-rise yeast (or instant yeast)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 28 ounces pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 6 tbsp salted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 6 ounces cream cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp salted butter
Instructions
- Heat water in the microwave for about 45 seconds or until the water temperature reaches between 110 ℉ and 115 ℉. Mix the sugar and quick-rise yeast into the warm water. Wait for the water to get foamy as the yeast activates (about 5 minutes). In a separate bowl, measure out the flour and salt. Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dry ingredients along with the melted butter.
- Mixer instructions: Mix the ingredients with a mixer attachment until the dough forms. Change to the dough hook attachment and knead the pizza dough on medium speed for 10 minutes. Add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Hand instructions: Mix the ingredients in a bowl until a dough ball forms. The dough will be sticky. On a lightly floured surface, knead the pizza dough by hand for 10 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Put the dough in an oiled bowl with a damp cloth covering it. Let the pizza dough rise for about an hour in a warm spot.
- Flour the rolling pin and surface. Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter in a thin layer on the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly to form a log. The dough may be sticky. Make 12 indentions and cut the rolls with a knife or use floss. Place the cinnamon rolls in a parchment paper lined baking dish. Allow the rolls to rise for about 45 minutes.
- Bake cinnamon rolls in a 350 ℉ oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow rolls to cool before frosting.
- In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter, softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix using a hand mixer until smooth. Slather the cream cheese frosting on the cooled cinnamon rolls.

- These rolls can be frozen after baking for later enjoyment.
