A light layered dessert featuring angel food cake, fresh strawberries, and vanilla pudding, perfect for gatherings.

- 1 box angel food cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 3.4 oz vanilla instant pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk (for pudding)
- 5–6 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for macerating strawberries)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk the pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes and set aside to firm slightly.
- Toss sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and let them macerate for 10–15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Do not grease the tube pan.
- Blend the cake mix with water at low speed for 30 seconds, then beat at medium speed for 1 minute.
- Pour batter into the ungreased tube pan and bake for 38–48 minutes.
- Cool the cake by inverting the pan over a heat-proof glass bottle for about 1½ hours.
- Cut the cooled cake into small cubes.
- Layer half of the cake in a trifle dish, top with half of the pudding, then half of the macerated strawberries. Repeat the layers.
- Top with whipped cream if desired and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
