Description
This popular dish of boiled onions is delicious and spicy with a buttery flavor. It’s a perfect, easy to prepare, and healthy side dish for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large yellow onion
- ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon dried parsley
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cut the ends off the onion. Use a sturdy spoon or a melon cutter to scoop out the onion flesh about halfway through.
- Place the onion in the center of a large piece of aluminum foil on a rimmed baking sheet. Combine the Cajun seasoning, Old Bay seasoning, salt, parsley, garlic powder, and pepper, then sprinkle half of the mixture over the onion. Pour the butter into the center and cover with the remaining seasoning.
- Lift the edges of the aluminum foil and press them down tightly to form an airtight wrap.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the onions are soft when lightly pressed. Then, remove from the oven and carefully open the foil to avoid escaping hot steam. Serve while warm and delicious.
