Ingredients

  • 8 ounces noodles (spaghetti or lo mein) (225 g)
  • 1 pound ground beef (450 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce (80 ml)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (50 g)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (120 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Stir in garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss well until evenly coated with the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle sliced green onions on top and serve warm.
