Description

With white chocolate chips and earthy green-tea notes, these chewy matcha brownies are decadent and a little fancy.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup ground almonds
  • 2 tablespoons matcha (green tea powder)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup white baking chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a greased 13×9-inch pan with parchment paper, letting the ends extend up the sides. Grease the parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar and vanilla until they’re blended. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking to blend after each addition.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, ground almonds, matcha, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Stir the dry ingredients mixture into the butter mixture. Fold in the white baking chips.
  4. Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Bake it until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes (do not overbake it). Cool the brownie completely in the pan on a wire rack. Lifting with the parchment, remove the brownie from the pan and cut it into bars.
