Description

Authentic Korean Rice Balls (Jumeokbap) – a simple, delicious finger food that’s easy to make at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups short-grain rice, cooked and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cooked and cooled rice, gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated.
  2. Scoop a heaping tablespoon of the rice mixture and gently shape it into a compact ball with your hands.
  3. Roll the rice ball in the chopped scallions and toasted sesame seeds, pressing gently to help the toppings adhere.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining rice mixture to make approximately 12 rice balls.
  5. Serve the Korean Rice Balls (Jumeokbap) immediately, with a small dish of soy sauce for dipping, if desired.
