- 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes (or more to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, reduced sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, crushed red-pepper flakes, and ground ginger until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly, for about 1 minute or until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks, until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet with the cooked beef. Add the green onions and stir until well combined. Allow to simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Plate the beef immediately. Garnish with additional green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
