  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 14 oz canned diced tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and bell pepper, sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and pork, cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a gentle simmer.
