  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
