Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, very cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold milk or buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and cut into the flour until coarse crumbs form with some pea-sized pieces.
  4. Pour in cold milk or buttermilk and stir gently until just combined.
