- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (about 6 cups sliced apples)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons arrowroot flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup blanched almond flour
- ¼ cup coconut sugar
- 1 cup chopped raw pecans
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ⅓ cup coconut oil, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- Coconut whipped cream
- Coconut milk ice cream
- Coconut milk yogurt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 2.5-quart baking dish with coconut oil.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples with lemon juice and maple syrup. In a small bowl, mix arrowroot flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add this mixture to the apples and toss to coat. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine almond flour, coconut sugar, chopped pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt. Add the coconut oil and cut it into the dry ingredients until crumbly. Gradually mix in maple syrup until a moist crumble forms.
- Evenly crumble the topping over the apples. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the filling is bubbling and the topping is golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with coconut whipped cream, coconut ice cream, or yogurt.
