Description

Savory and flaky hand pies filled with seasoned ground beef and vegetables.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well until everything is combined.
  4. Mix in the frozen vegetables and cook for 2–3 more minutes until heated through. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares or circles.
  6. Add a spoonful of filling to each piece of pastry. Brush edges with water or egg wash. Fold and seal with a fork.
  7. Place hand pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush tops with egg wash.
  8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving.
