Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup walnuts or pecans (chopped)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth and stir in the melted butter.
  3. Mix in the baking soda and salt, then add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour, stirring until just incorporated.
  5. If using, fold in the walnuts or chocolate chips gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
