Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding is a rich and creamy dessert made with stale bread, dark chocolate, and a custard mixture.

- 6 cups stale bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher)
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries or whipped cream, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking dish, either a 9×13 inch or individual ramekins, by greasing it lightly with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the stale bread cubes.
- In a saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling. Remove from heat.
- Add the dark chocolate chips to the warm cream mixture. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Gradually pour the warm chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
- Pour the custard mixture over the stale bread cubes. Gently fold to ensure every piece of bread is coated. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Pour the bread and custard mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly and gently press down the bread cubes.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
