Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ pound chicken breast (boneless, skinless, cut into thin long strips)
- 2 large eggs
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions (chopped, optional)
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoon honey
- ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (minced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Whisk the eggs in a shallow plate until smooth. In another plate, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, ground ginger, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken piece into the egg wash, then dredge it in the flour mixture. Press lightly to ensure the breading sticks.
- Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or deep frying pan to about 350°F (180°C). Fry chicken strips in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk together red pepper flakes, honey, soy sauce, sriracha, minced ginger, minced garlic, and pepper to create the sauce.
- Drizzle the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
