Ingredients

  • pound chicken breast (boneless, skinless, cut into thin long strips)
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions (chopped, optional)
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (minced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs in a shallow plate until smooth. In another plate, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, ground ginger, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each chicken piece into the egg wash, then dredge it in the flour mixture. Press lightly to ensure the breading sticks.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven or deep frying pan to about 350°F (180°C). Fry chicken strips in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together red pepper flakes, honey, soy sauce, sriracha, minced ginger, minced garlic, and pepper to create the sauce.
  5. Drizzle the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
