  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups Oil for frying (Vegetable or canola oil)
  • 4 pieces Sandwich buns
  • 1 cup Lettuce (Can substitute with spinach or arugula)
  • 1 medium Tomato slices
  • 1/2 cup Pickles (Optional)
  • 1/2 cup Sauce of choice (Tartar sauce, lemon aioli, or spicy mayo)

Instructions

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Preheat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper. Coat each fish fillet in the flour mixture.
  3. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Dip each floured fish fillet into the egg wash, ensuring they’re well-coated.
  4. Roll the egg-dipped fillets in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they stick.
  5. Carefully fry the coated fillets in hot oil for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Melt a bit of butter in a pan. Toast the sandwich buns cut-side down until lightly crisp and golden.
  7. Spread sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce, tomato, crispy fish fillet, and pickles if desired.
  8. Top with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
