- Prepare the crust (5 minutes): If homemade, crush about 1 ½ cups graham crackers into fine crumbs and mix with 5 tablespoons melted butter and 2 tablespoons sugar. Press firmly into a 9-inch pie dish and chill.
- Soften the cream cheese and peanut butter (3 minutes): In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese and peanut butter with a hand mixer until smooth and lump-free.
- Add sugar and vanilla (2 minutes): Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the peanut butter mixture, beating until creamy and fluffy.
- Whip the heavy cream (5 minutes): In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
- Fold whipped cream into peanut butter mixture (3 minutes): Gently fold one-third of whipped cream into peanut butter mixture to lighten it, then fold in remaining cream carefully without overmixing.
- Assemble the pie (2 minutes): Spoon filling into chilled crust and smooth the top.
- Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate to let filling firm up and flavors meld.
- Add toppings and serve: Before serving, sprinkle chopped peanuts, chocolate shavings, or drizzle melted chocolate if desired.
