Description
Clean Southern Banana Cobbler is a delightful dessert that combines ripe bananas with a rich, buttery batter, baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced bananas and granulated sugar. Set aside to allow the bananas to release their juices.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon (if using) until smooth.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Spoon the banana mixture over the batter, evenly distributing it.
- Do not stir; the bananas will sink as it bakes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added flavor.
- You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar.
