Description
Delightfully sweet and crunchy Chocolate Dipped Heart Rice Krispies Treats perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1 package marshmallows (10 oz; about 40 regular-sized or 4 cups mini marshmallows)
- 5–6 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 package white chocolate wafers
- Pink food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add the entire package of marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth. Remove the pan from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- Add 5-6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until all the cereal is thoroughly coated with the marshmallow.
- Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, evenly press the mixture into a 13x9x2 inch pan that has been coated lightly with cooking spray. Allow it to cool completely at room temperature.
- Once cooled and set, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the treats into hearts. Place the heart-shaped treats onto a plate or wax paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the white chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth. If desired, stir in a few drops of pink food coloring to tint the chocolate.
- Dip each heart halfway into the melted white chocolate coating. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the treats back onto wax paper.
- Let the dipped treats sit at room temperature on the wax paper until the chocolate coating has fully hardened, which takes about 15 minutes.
