- 2 large avocados, ripe, halved and pitted
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/2 jalapeño pepper, stemmed, seeded, and finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- Salt, to taste
- Tortilla chips, for serving
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the scooped flesh of the avocados with the lemon juice and lime juice. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the mixture until your desired consistency is achieved, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
- Integrate the finely chopped red onion, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño pepper into the mashed avocado base. Season the guacamole with salt, starting with approximately 1/2 teaspoon, and adjust according to your preference.
- Serve the freshly prepared guacamole immediately alongside tortilla chips. For any remaining guacamole, transfer it to an airtight container. To prevent oxidation and maintain its vibrant color, press a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole, ensuring no air is exposed. Refrigerate promptly.
