  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper, stemmed, seeded, and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the scooped flesh of the avocados with the lemon juice and lime juice. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the mixture until your desired consistency is achieved, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
  2. Integrate the finely chopped red onion, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño pepper into the mashed avocado base. Season the guacamole with salt, starting with approximately 1/2 teaspoon, and adjust according to your preference.
  3. Serve the freshly prepared guacamole immediately alongside tortilla chips. For any remaining guacamole, transfer it to an airtight container. To prevent oxidation and maintain its vibrant color, press a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole, ensuring no air is exposed. Refrigerate promptly.
