Description
Delicious Chinese Beef and Broccoli Recipe for Quick Dinners
Ingredients
- Flank steak or sirloin (or ribeye for tenderness, top round for leaner option)
- Fresh broccoli (or frozen, thawed and drained)
- Soy sauce (2 tablespoons for marinating, 3 tablespoons for sauce)
- Cornstarch (1 tablespoon)
- Water (1 tablespoon)
- Oyster sauce (2 tablespoons)
- Beef broth (1 tablespoon)
- Sugar (1 teaspoon)
- Garlic (freshly minced)
- Ginger (freshly minced)
- Oil (for stir-frying, about 2 teaspoons)
- Sesame oil (1 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: Start by slicing the flank steak thinly against the grain. Marinate the beef in a mixture of 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of water for about 15-20 minutes.
- Prep the Broccoli: While the beef is marinating, wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until bright green, then immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of beef broth, and a teaspoon of sugar. This will be your stir-fry sauce.
- Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Add Aromatics: In the same skillet, add another teaspoon of oil if needed, then toss in minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Combine Everything: Return the beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Pour the sauce over the mixture and toss everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
- Finish with Sesame Oil: Just before serving, drizzle a teaspoon of sesame oil over the dish, giving it a final toss to incorporate.
- Serve: Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, and enjoy the vibrant flavors of your homemade Chinese Beef and Broccoli!
